Alan Wake Remastered PC Specs Revealed

4.3
With the release of Alan Wake Remastered just over a week away, fans of the original are gearing up to re-enter Bright Falls. On top of that, there are still rumors going around that Alan Wake 2 may be in the early stages of development. Given this, now seems to be a good time to be a fan of the down-trodden writer. As fans prepare for the launch on October 5, Remedy Entertainment has now unveiled the hardware specs for the PC port of the game.

According to the official Alan Wake FAQ page, the remastered version will require, at minimum, an Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 3 processor, as well as 8 GB of RAM. It will also need a graphics card with 4 GB of VRAM, such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960, or the AMD equivalent, which would be the RX470. Naturally, recommended specs will require better hardware, such as an i7 or Ryzen 5 processor, and either an RTX 1060 or AMD equivalent running at 6 GB of VRAM.

Overall, it seems pretty standard fare for a modern game. It doesn't appear that it will break the bank, so fans won't have to worry about getting something like an Nvidia RTX 3090, which, as many are already aware, is near impossible to get hold of anyway. The FAQ page also talks about some of the graphical features that the game will have, such as ambient occlusion, V-sync, and field of view finder. Standard stuff on modern games, it seems. However, there is one thing that the game won't be compatible with.

Recently, it was announced that while Alan Wake Remastered will support Nvidia's DLSS upscaling, it won't have ray tracing. For those who aren't aware, ray tracing is a standard algorithm in many new games, especially AAA titles, which accurately reflects light and shadow based on the position of the player. Remedy has said that the reason the remaster doesn't support this is down to time, adding that it would have taken "resources away from other critical areas."

October is shaping up to be a huge month for game releases. Along with Alan Wake, there's also Far Cry 6, Back 4 Blood, and the new Mario Party. The original Alan Wake game came out in 2010 and has since gone on to become something of a classic hidden gem. While the remake gives it a visual boost to bring it into the modern era of gaming, it will retain the overall look and feel of the original, which will please many fans.

Here are the full specs for the PC version of the game:
