Modern Warfare 3 sales begin to lag, fall behind Black Ops

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 may have set a new record for the biggest entertainment launch in history, but a decline in ongoing sales has caused the title to be overtaken in life-to-date sales for the same period by series’ predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. According to analysts at Macquarie Equities, volume sales for Modern Warfare 3 are currently lagging behind Black Ops’ by around 4.2 percent. For the month of March, it is reported that the title sold less than half the amount that Black Ops sold at that time last year, although exact sales figures are unavailable to the public.

Modern Warfare 3 sold over 6.5 million units within 24 hours of its launch, while Black Ops sold approximately 5.6 million units on launch day.

Webush Securities analyst Michael Pachter states that the title’s poor performance in March could indicate that gamers are becoming more dependent upon new release and less inclined to purchase games post-launch.

Analysts at Piper Jaffray state that the numbers indicate a significant change in the buying habits of the casual market. It is their belief that less players are purchasing games at retail, and that more are using their consoles primarily for video streaming and other forms of media consumption.

Software sales have been down across the board, as seen in sales figures for both February and March.

The only reason most people stop playing mw3 is cuz of the campers if they made more fast paced maps with less dark alleys and one-way buildings COD would be better than ever. I.W. need to think about the rest of us and not just the campers and they need to get rid of support because its just too easy 2 get massive kill-streaks like Juggernauts.

I hate when someone is going like 18-38 or something stupid like that and they call in an emp or an emergency airdrop. GET A REAL KILL STREAK! grow a set and use real kill streaks that take skill

Black Ops takes skill, and the 12 year olds on TTG and that play COD don't like a challenge.

MW3 and 2 spoonfeeds them and dumbs **** down, so they like it.

Black ops is too slow paced, Because they ruined the fact of killstreaks get you killstreaks, so the gameplay was slow.. Then there was little b!!tches that complain about guns being OP Because they suck so they have to get all the guns horribly dumbed down to where every gun is like 6 shot kill and snipers take like 2 shots dead to the chest. it doesn't take skill to camp and BO was a **** game. Play some MW2 and play right.

Hey dumb ****, remember MW2's killstreaks? They counted to your next one. People only get nukes because the chopper gunner gets all the kills. Then it sucked (even more) because all the gay quicksopers and trickshotters. They say it takes skill but quickscoping is **** easy as hell and trick shotting is all luck. Plus MW2 was the worst CoD of all.
Well, don't hate just because you can't do it. You suck, we all know that.

black ops was a pretty good game compared to mw3. mw3 is terrible. not much different to mw2 and the guns sound like spud guns, if they could of brought the sound of battlefield 3 on to call of duty and the good selection of weopons ect then it would of been good. iw suck a$$

It's not luck... it's luck when you start but its skill when you know what your doing. and if u say trickshotting is luck than go up to em with a launcher and kill them cuz the explosives are wayy buff

take more time to make a game


the game should take time, more detail, better splatter and harder to kill.. perks should of been harder to reach but i find it just to simple a monkey could play and be top of the leaderboards
