[RUMOR] EA To Be Bought By Nexon?

According to Bloomberg News there appears to be a possibility that Nexon, the free-to-play publisher known for MapleStory, may be in talks to acquire the U.S. publisher Electronic Arts. Nexon had previously announced plans for buying smartphone and mobile gaming developers.

This rumor has caused a significant jump in EA’s stocks today, which closed at around $16 a share, marking the largest increase since November 30, 2011. Meanwhile Nexon’s stock decreased by 2.3 percent at the close of trading yesterday.


So what will this mean in the long run? Well, if EA does get bought out by a bigger company, chances are it could make a return from being considered “The Worst Company in America” by The Consumerist. Then again, maybe not. As of right now this is all rumor and speculation and neither company has made any comments as to what is fact or fiction.

iTurtle I personally think this would be awesome because I play most nx games and they're all pretty kick ****. People are just afraid of change and trying something new!

Somehow, i dont think this will actually go through. But if it does, hopefully it doesnt have any affect on their Annual Madden releases...

They couldn't even afford to buy EA. This equivalent to an 9 year old buying Microsoft.

HeyPerson ok, let's be logical here.. How could a "free to play" publisher buy EA (which makes millions of dollars)?

2-3 years back, I used to play Maple Story and I tried some of Nexon's other games. Trust me, the people who play that game blow off thousands of dollars on that game. It's dumb. Nexon considers all of their games free-to-play, but you need to pay for an advantage. Combat Arms, perfect example. Non-permanent guns are sh*t deals, and the permanent ones cost $30. You can still progress, but on Maple Story especially, it takes way longer. With all of those people who blow off tons of money on their games, Nexon is making bank.

I honestly don't think this will happen anyway.

i highly doubt nexon can even buy EA. Plus ea doesnt exactly have a price...they are just too big of a market
