Halo 4 Multiplayer Won't Have Spectator Mode

343 Industries' community manager Jessica Shea has been answering questions on Twitter about the studio's upcoming game, Halo 4. Among the queries she's answered was a question about Halo 4's spectator mode—or the lack thereof.

Shea confirmed that there will be no spectator mode in Halo 4. To some players, the omission of a spectator mode flies in the face of the studio's goal to develop Halo 4 as a competitive title, but most expressed their lack of surprise.

Other players were less affected by the news. @GrimBrotherOne dismissed spectator mode as a "waste of bandwidth".

The official response on the Halo bulletin called full spectator mode a "bandwidth hog" that they did not want to introduce into the game's competitive arenas, but promised that there would be changes to the post-death camera.

spectator mode wasnt that great tbh so no big loss to me!

It's about time! This was just an obnoxious and pointless add-on to the game to begin with, in my own opinion of course.

As long as there is theater mode I don't think competitive gaming will be killed off imo

theater will most likely be similar to halo reach's the spectator mode was brought up from the competitive community because the costs of running events are high think of cod one player can watch everyone's first person view which only needs one capture card and equipment to stream with halo you have to have eight capture cards with the equipment to stream to have everyone's point of view which costs a pretty penny

-Spirit there is still theater mode in halo 4 people what they mean by a spectator mode is a player that can watch everyone's point of view so it would be easier to stream live events there is still classic theater mode like halo reach's


So by removing spectator mode they could be killing off some live streamers?
