Crytek estimates Wii U is 'minimum as powerful as Xbox 360'

Wii U is "minimum" as powerful as Xbox 360.

That's according to Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, who revealed in a CVG interview that a "respected developer" is working on a CryEngine 3 title for the Nintendo platform.
"My opinion of the Wii U is very high," he said. "It's just that we didn't have a business case unfortunately that justifies us making a game for it.

"It doesn't mean that CryEngine 3 doesn't run on Wii U - it actually runs beautifully. In fact, there actually is a game in development from a respected developer that we will be announcing. I've seen the game running and it looks really great."

Yerli estimated that the Wii U hardware is "minimum on par with the current generation."

"From my perspective I do not understand the public's concerns that the Wii U is weaker than PS3 and 360," he said. "That I cannot see. From my perspective the Wii U is minimum as powerful as Xbox 360."

In the same interview the Crytek boss claimed his studio's technology is already "way beyond" next-gen console specifications.

guys thats what everyone said about the first wii and look where it got them...


I didnt buy it, my mum bought it for the family -_- we played it like twice then it just sat there for 2 years untill we sold it.

Thats how business works now a days. Apple and Microsoft are the true pioneers of technology. Every other company just copies them and creates their own version of the product.


No you are wrong, Apple just copies from others and they market it as their own product, they honestly have come up with noting innovative because MP3s, tablets, smart phones and computers with GUIs all existed before Apple released a product similar to them. Microsoft is kind of innovating, but they definitely got inspiration for Kinect from the Wii. And if Microsoft is a true pioneer for technology and everyone is copying them, why were video game systems being made in the 80's, but Microsoft did not make a console until the 2000's? Why did they make their own search engine too?

How does apple copy products?? they invented the ipod and ipad :/


You are right they did invent those products. However they were not the first ones to come up with the idea for devices like the iPod and iPad. MP3 players have been around way long than the iPod, tablets have been around longer than iPads. You get what I am saying? For everything that have sold, there has already been a product similar that has been on the market already, it just doesn't have an Apple logo on it.

wii u sucks did you see e3 2012? they didnt do anything new just mass effect 3 witch is on other consoles and no ones gnna buy a game they have already just for the wii u. the most they advertised was wii uneriverse or something like that and it sucked just a bunch of mini games. no new mario no new pokemon no new zelda no new AAA games from nintendo at e3 only "cool" looking game was zombie game they featured the wii u press comf. wqas the biggest fail of e3 and second was microsoft letting usher on that stage for mid age male gamers??? wtf sony won it with beyond, last of us, playstation all stars. and microsoft in a very near 2nd with halo 4 and cod black ops 2
