Lack of new consoles has 'penalised' industry, says Ubisoft
Speaking to Gamasutra, the CEO argued that it's less risky to create new IPs at the beginning of a new console cycle.
"What we missed was a new console every five years," he said. "We have been penalised by the lack of new consoles on the market. I understand the manufacturers don't want them too often because it's expensive, but it's important for the entire industry to have new consoles because it helps creativity."
Ubisoft has traditionally backed new console launches, with rich line-ups already present on the Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita, and of course the impressive Watch Dogs wowing attendees at E3.
"It's a lot less risky for us to create new IPs and new products when we're in the beginning of a new generation," Guillemot added. "Our customers are very open to new things. Our customers are reopening their minds -- and they are really going after what's best.
"At the end of a console generation, they want new stuff, but they don't buy new stuff as much. They know their friends will play Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed so they go for that. So the end of a cycle is very difficult."
The Ubisoft head argued that without these 'early risks' the pay offs that emerge later in a console cycle might not happen. For example, Guillemot noted, if it weren't for Rayman: Raving Rabbids, there would never have been a Just Dance.
"If you can't take risks because people don't buy, you don't innovate. And if you don't innovate, customers get bored."

Jayden- Stop. Everyone is getting mad. It depends what you look for.
If you want to experience the best gameplay, the best graphics, the best opportunities and possibilities, PC would win by FAR.
But if you want to play and talk with friends the most, I like Xbox better, because of things like Xbox LIVE partys and Private chat and voice messages etc, it's so simple. Plus - all my friends play Xbox 360 not PC.
Personal preference, don't care what you prefer. Factual basis, PC is better.
What you mentioned about xbox live parties and private chats is all possible through using steam/origin, ventrillo, skype or whatever the hell you use to communicate. Ergo, the platforms equate on those levels.
And yes people tend to play on the same platforms as their friends, that's only normal.

That's very true, I'm going to buy games that friends have to play with them and to get help/help them out.
But if the developers of CoD or Assassins Creed were to make a game I would try it because it would be made by people who made great games.

PISTOLxKILLAJtagFXNoggerMcGoo-Karma-Holy sh*t, you are an idiot.AntPoPxModsTTG_Mets You cannnot compare an xbox360 to a PC.
Yeh xbox is well better than pc games
You have to be joking me.
Xbox is better. You cant even play new games on pc without someone using aimbot or something. PC you need skype to talk unless you rather type......WHY DO THAT ? just get xbox and chat so simple
pc gaming is much better than xbox the pc technology is not tethered unlike console technology. When new consoles come out we won't have to go out and purchase a new system.
so you never have to buy a new PC for anything ever...new consoles come out and so do new computers buddy

lol your just ignorant. I dont even have a pc and i know PC is better. Have you seen the differences in graphics? Also Devs give you tools to mod their games!
One of the few reasons consoles are better is because of what Unbatedzz said, its easier, less money, and you dont have to upgrade

The only reason I like consoles better because in my opinion consoles are easier to use. They don't frequently have problems as much as a pc and are focused on the ease of gaming
