Microsoft job posting suggests new Xbox within 18 months

Earlier this week we saw that Microsoft job postings hinted development of a Surface tablet successor was likely already underway, and now another set of postings hints at the future of the Xbox platform. The post on Microsoft's Careers website in relation to a marketing position mentions how a bunch of new products will be launched the next 18 months: Windows, Windows Phone, Office, Surface and Xbox.

Over the next eighteen months Microsoft will release new versions of all of our most significant products including Windows (Client, Server, Phone and Azure), Office and Xbox, along with completely new offerings like Microsoft Surface. This wave of product launches will define the course of the company for years to come and thus provides an unprecedented opportunity for us to refresh and evolve our strategic brands.
Of course this is no definite confirmation that a new Xbox will be available in 2013, as Microsoft earlier this week had to clarify a statement made in relation to the next Xbox being in development - even though it's still rather obvious Microsoft is secretly developing a next-generation console to compete with the Wii U, the next PlayStation and advancements in PC gaming.

Documents that were leaked earlier this year in relation to the "Xbox 720" mention a next-generation release for 2013, plus a successor to the Kinect (named Kinect V2 in the documents) is also expected around the same time. A price point for the console is speculated around $299, and there have been several, often conflicting rumors surrounding the hardware.

I'm looking forward to seeing the next generation consoles. But I think I'd prefer to see the 720 released in 2014/2015 rather than 2013. By releasing it later they will have more time to improve on the 360 and hopefully by then the hardware will be noticeably better.

The 360 is just over 7 years old and it may seem like a long time but there is still lots more stuff they can do with the 360 before the release of a new console.

All i would want on a future console is that it can read the disks of Xbox 360 games.

i hate microsoft. what happened to it wont be release until at least 2015 or the ability to have up to 1000 friends they bullsh*t so much its unbelievable.
i dont see why there releasing a new xbox i mean the 360 is perfectly fine for at least another two years, im gunna be soo p*ssed when they release it.
why? might you ask. because if the 720 dont read 360 discs then were f**cked or if it dont have any arcade games on it. i love arcade games like minecraft and trials and if i dont get all that sh*t then that new 720 is going out the window :)

Two_Faced The 2 main things i want are... 1. faster dashboard.. that hting lags like a son of a b***. and two is better graphix.. i only want them to release a new console if they improve on these two things. i want it to look more real most games look like well done cartoons


Well , sorry to crush your dreams but the new Xbox will have a videocard based on a Radeon HD 6000 Which is pretty old. Altough that is just a rumor i would'nt be surprised if they really put that card in because they want the new Xbox to cost $299,99

MoDOT I am fine with what we got but I guess something new would be cool. But one thing that would piss me off is everyone would try to take the gamertags JUST TO SELL EM.

And they better not make reg 360 games not playable not the new one. Should be able to play on both


I would just like to point out that when the XBOX 360 first came out you kept your old gamer tag from the firsdt gen. also, you could play first gen games on the 360. one reason they will do both of these things again is, their is not many games when a consol is first released so they will make it so you can play old games. and for the gamer tags there is just too many for them to make people create new ones.

also for people who dont know... if you call xbox live and ask if say the gamer tag "Hello" is being used and they say no.. you tell them that it used to be yours a long time ago and you would like to change tour tag to that.. they WILL let you.. sometimes it takes a couple trys. i got the GT: Original Gamer, it was created on the original xbox and had not been used for like 4 years they let me change it to that for 200msp!! hope this helped
