Anonymous claims PSN hack affecting 10 million
According to the 'hacker', a 50GB database of user information has been stolen, affecting some 10 million people.
A list of email addresses and seemingly encrypted passwords has been published, linked to via Anonymous' Twitter account.
But are the claims genuine? Evidence suggests not; as Kotaku reports, the list of supposed PSN email addresses released by the hacker appears to be a cut-and-paste of a previous and seemingly unrelated email list posted back in March.
Regardless, probably worth nipping online and changing your password, just in case.
Sony is yet to respond to requests for comment.
The threat of another PSN hack will be no small thing for PlayStation owners who endured weeks of PSN downtime and the threat of identity theft when the network was hit with a series of major attacks last year.
Update: Sony Computer Entertainment America's Shane Bettenhausen has deemed the claims "totally fake" via a Twitter post that has since seemingly been deleted.

Yeah since Microsoft has alot of money then can get very good security.
No, just bec Microsoft has a lot of money doesn't mean they have good security.

I don't care what anyone has too say, poor security or top notch security, I'm still buying a PS3.
Like I said in my comments below, anybody can get hack.
It just so happen to be Sony, and the PSN users were the ones to suffer.
Plus I'm fed up with Xbox Live and its customer support.
I can have a nice time on PSN for free, unlike Xbox Live.
Besides Xbox's Party Chat, there is nothing else that is different.
Every Xbox Live user defense is "You pay for security and reliability."
Well that is completely false, I doubt our money is going towards a better security and what not.
So you telling me that in big corporations, banks, and federal organizations don't have good security?
That is a invalid statement that people make.
Xbox Live and Microsoft in general does not have a perfect security system where nobody could take it down.
Could it be almost or near-to perfect? Yeah maybe.
I'm not bashing or hating on either console, or trying to start a console war.
Just making a valid point that we (or should I say you) are NOT paying for "better" security.
Microsoft is a billion dollar company. They make huge profits on other things besides Xbox Live.
Nintendo and Sony are successful without making it mandatory for users to pay for online gaming and a "better" security.
Will Nintendo and Sony follow towards this trend? Yeah I honestly think so, in the next generation of console gaming. (We already seeing Sony leaning towards this with Playstation Plus)
You don't have too argue with me, you have the right to disagree with me.

jeckelbrothers2 "Sony Computer Entertainment America's Shane Bettenhausen has deemed the claims "totally fake" via a Twitter post that has since seemingly been deleted." lol anonymous has no power!!! all they do is jump on the bandwagon and pretend they started it to look more power full. for example they think they stopped sopa. they did not do any more then an average person on youtube.. or the facebook photos saying to stop sopa.
"no power" ? Then how did they successfully hack it the first time?
