The Uncharted series makes its debut on PC today with the port of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, but it sounds like the remastered collection is only the beginning for Naughty Dog titles on the personal computer. While the PS5 remains the studio's "primary platform", it will now always consider a PC version to go alongside its future games, such as The Last of Us Multiplayer.

Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, Naughty Dog vice president Christian Gyrling shares a deep dive into the production of the PC ports of the Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and The Lost Legacy remasters. Teaming up with Iron Galaxy, the developer found another company it could trust "would deliver a high-quality version of these two Uncharted games, and with whom we could work closely to better understand PC development while internally staying focused on current and future projects and bringing them to PC as well".

Gryling adds: "While PlayStation 5 remains our primary platform, we saw the possibility of bringing our games to PC as a great chance to reach a new massive, worldwide audience." This PC release is seen as a "transformative pivot point" for Naughty Dog, allowing it to bring upcoming titles to a wider audience. It says it has "set the stage for Naughty Dog to deliver high-quality games on PlayStation 5, with the option of a PC release as well, with an understanding of how to cater to the different needs of both audiences now and in the future".

None of this should come as surprise to the PlayStation faithful, as Sony ports more of its back catalogue to PC. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is ready to web-sling to the platform next month, and The Last of Us: Part I will join it in the future. PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst has already said the company's upcoming live service games will likely launch on PC and PlayStation consoles "day and date" with each other, and The Last of Us Multiplayer is a very probable candidate for that. As for single player experiences, there'll be "at least" a year between the PS5, PS4 and PC versions releasing.
