Microsoft Points starting to be phased out

3.9
Microsoft has begun removing its Points system as a method of payment for the more traditional real-world cash, which includes the official pricing of applications. This changes the way that users will pay for applications on Windows 8, as prior to an update, the point system was still very much active.

While some may like the point system, it has been widely used for Xbox Live and the Zune Marketplace to buy various forms of media and applications. Roughly 80 Microsoft Points is a dollar. However, in newer Windows 8 builds, applications and media can be paid for on a credit card, with the Microsoft Point system being used as a second option.

As for now, we can confirm that Xbox Live is still using the Microsoft point system as a method of payment, however, we could see things change when Microsoft release the new dashboard update. We’ll keep you posted if we learn more about this.

I agree with Attune not everyone has a credit card hopefully they will keep the Microsoft point system.

I personally think the Microsoft Point system is good, what if someone gets a few extra bucks for doing the dishes? Go down to the store and get points. No everyone has a credit card. I mean it works better with the points. I say they should keep it how it is.

This probably won't affect people too bad,
not as if MSP will be completely gone.

-LOST- How to they expect people to pay for things on xbl

Not everyone has a paypal account or a credit card

This is going to make things much more difficult for some people

It would not be a problem for me but half(if not more) of their users are not old enough to have a cc or paypal

This should be interesting

with prepaid cash codes like sony has for PSN
Think before saying dumb stuff.

"Think before saying dumb stuff." Your the "dumb" here, Gtfo.

Can you people read? It says Microsoft Points with be a second option so it will still be a payment method to purchase something with Microsoft Points.

B3yondLiF3 I wouldn't trust using my credit card to pay for things, points are a much safer method of paying
