GTA 5 release date: GameStop lists March 1

GameStop UK is listing a Grand Theft Auto 5 release date of Friday March 1, 2013.

The launch date on the updated product page may just be a placeholder, but a March release for the game has previously been rumoured.
While we're still awaiting official news on the GTA 5 release date, past financial guidance from publisher Take-Two implied it'll launch before the end of the company's business year on March 31, 2013.

Rockstar released the latest batch of GTA 5 screenshots in August, showing off a police chase featuring plenty of cars and a chopper.

I doubt it's true but that would be really nice.. Can't wait to get the game, but there have been a lot of things like this that have happenend.

Since games in the US usually come out on Tuesday (before UK's Friday), it might be February 26 for US residents according to this theory.

I personally think it will come out in May now. If the release date is March 1, why would they have until March 31 to say so? It must mean that it's coming out after. Rockstar's last 3 games were released in May of the corresponding year. Max Payne 3 was originally announced for a March release, but they pushed it back. Expect something like that with GTA V.

On a side note, how will the Xbox and PS3 run such a game? I think they're going to release a watered down version only for Xbox and PS3, then release it for PC and the next Xbox in November 2013 (if it's out by then). GTA IV was released in April or May 2008 for Xbox and PS3, and was later released for the PC in November 2008. I think my theory seems reasonable!

It wont come out march 1st every game that gets its 1st release date it all ways on the 1st but where more in likely to get it next summer.

GLOCK-PERFECTION So stupid and a waste to release it on these old consoles, it would be a much better experience on the next gen consoles. Big mistake on Rockstar Games part. Oh well I will still play it.


Considering the next generation hasn't even been announced yet, Rockstar has plenty of time to release GTA5 and still make GTA6 within the first year of the console being released.
Remember, it's not like every game is going to use the next generation console to its full potential. When the 360 came out, many of the first games still had Xbox quality graphics.


The Xbox 720 was predicted to be released September 2013, but it may be delayed due to bugs. And trust me they would utilize GTA 5 on the next-gen consoles, they couldn't fully utilize BF3 on Xbox and Ps3 so they halved the amount of players.
