Cyberpunk 2077 Developers Settle Lawsuit With Investors For $1.85M

3.6
CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 woes are likely coming to an end as the class-action lawsuit filed back at the game's launch has finally been settled.

The $1.85 million settlement has been signed off for the class-action lawsuit the Rosen Law Firm filed against CD Projekt Red (via ArsTechnica). The lawsuit seeked damages for misleading statements by CD Projekt Red about the state of Cyberpunk 2077. While it was estimated that the damages could be as high as $11 million, the final amount is only a small fraction of that amount.

The settlement will affect anyone who has traded CDPR securities "between January 16, 2020, and December 17, 2020", and they will be eligible for $0.49 per eligible share as settlement funds. Back in 2021, all four lawsuits filed for Cyberpunk 2077 were consolidated, so this could be the last of the problems for CD Projekt Red with respect to the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 was undoubtedly one of the most-awaited games of the last decade, but the game's launch was a pretty bumpy ride. Apart from the numerous bugs, the game was practically unplayable on last-gen consoles with performance issues hampering the experience extensively.

Things went south to the extent that the game was removed from the PlayStation Store and the developers went out of their way to offer refunds across various channels. Thankfully, a change in approach and some consistent effort has turned the fortune of the game, with CD Projekt Red breaking records in terms of quarterly revenue lately.

With Cyberpunk 2077's sales getting a boost lately and the game recently winning the Labor of Love award, CD Projekt Red seems to have pulled off a historic comeback for the game. With a new expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 already in the works, and the developers announcing the return of its most beloved franchise, The Witcher, fans hope that CD Projekt Red will continue to recreate the magic it is well known for.

CalicoReidso oh, I recall the hype before it came out like it was yesterday,
and when it did, it was buggy as hell

but they had managed to sort it all out and sold tremendously

Yeah, just a bummer that it took so long though. They even had to refund prev. Gen players haha

It's really not too big of a hit, I'm sure they made so much money from the game. Hell, even i bought it on release!

Slyestcat I don't think Cyberpunk really deserved these suits, the game recorded really good profits and the game wasn't nearly as buggy as it was made out to be.

I played it on last gen (well partly) and hardly had any problems tbh...
