Halo 4 leak: Microsoft perma-banning early players

Microsoft is reportedly issuing permanent Xbox Live bans to users found to be playing Halo 4 ahead of its official launch.

"During your suspension, you will not be able to log into Xbox Live," reads the Microsoft messaging sent to some members of the Reddit community. "Your Xbox Live privileges will not be reinstated."
Halo franchise director Frank O'Connor said over the weekend that he was unsurprised by the recent Halo 4 leak, which has seen copies of the game sneak into the wild almost a month ahead of the Halo 4 release date of November 6.

Microsoft said last week that it's "working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation".

One of my friends got console/account banned for playing it, now I'm really glad that I didn't :)

they probably wont be banned.. over the years we have heard this and i know people who get away with it every time. They say it to prevent people from doing it. But hey if this is the year they actually ban people then you can call me wrong. lol

If you were to go online afterwards and you have the game in your recent games played then yes they can. If you do have it. Stick to offline accounts.


No, dont connect to online at all. I made a non gold non silver account and played it offline but afterwards i went online without the game in my recent games history on my online account and without the game in the disc drive, and they perm banned my main account till 9999 and console banned me. Dont even play halo 4 on an xbox you play online with because when you connect to online it send microsoft all the info on your nand and if they come across a halo 4 line in your nand you get banned.
