A new rumor claims that the upcoming Diablo 4, currently scheduled to launch on June 6, could have its release date pushed back to a later date. Diablo 4 was first officially revealed to the world at the BlizzCon 2019 event, but four years later, it still has yet to release to the public. It's been over a decade since Diablo 3 first launched, so fans are understandably anxious to get their hands on the long-awaited Diablo 4.

Many are going into Diablo 4 with some worry about what the final product will be like. Diablo Immortal was a massive financial success for Blizzard, but the game earned widespread criticism from fans for its microtransactions. Promises have been made that Diablo 4 will avoid running into the same issues as Diablo Immortal, but time will tell on that front. In the meantime, fans hoping to play the game for themselves may have to wait a little longer than expected.

Horns, a user on the Resetera forums who accurately leaked Hi-Fi Rush's launch, has made some claims about other major games launching in 2023. In a post on the forum, Horns claimed that both Redfall and Starfield are in rough shape, claiming Bethesda wants to push Starfield's release back to fall 2023. In that same post, Horns said that Diablo 4 is similarly "in rough shape" and that the game's June 6 release date is "questionable." No evidence was provided to back up these claims, but Horns has more credibility than others online who claim to have insider information. Regardless, fans should take this info with a massive grain of salt.



Luckily, Diablo enthusiasts should have the chance to play the game well before its release date. Diablo 4 closed beta tests have ended, and there are plans to host an open beta for the game prior to its launch later this year. Even if the Diablo 4 release date is delayed, chances are good fans will get to play the open beta at some point within the next six months. And whenever the open beta happens, the game's proper release shouldn't be far behind.

Diablo 4's release date has been delayed multiple times at this point, so fans of the franchise may become especially frustrated if it's pushed back again as the rumors suggest. However, others will want Blizzard to delay the game as many times as necessary to ensure that the launch product lives up to the franchise's lofty legacy. For now, the official word is that Diablo 4 is still dropping in June, so fans don't have to worry about a release date delay just yet.

Diablo 4 will launch on June 6 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
