Releasing a demo with a DLC prize before a game's release has become a tradition for Team Ninja. Prior to the launch of the studio's previous IP, Nioh, a demo with the Hino-Enma Kabuto Helmet as a prize was released, giving you extra Amrita (souls) and bonus benefits. The Nioh 2 pre-launch trial demo also handed you the Kamaitachi Helmet upon completion, which increased your running speed and gave you various bonuses. These DLC are not integral to the experience, but they can help make early game traversal a breeze.
These demos are not just for promotion, but the developers use them to adjust the game based on player feedback. At the recent Taipei Game Show, players were able to test the game and fight the boar enemy shown in the game's latest action trailer (Via 4gamer). At the show, 90% of the testers who tried the demo gave positive feedback and praised the improvements made to the combat, specifically the faster transformation speed and improved recovery mechanics compared to the previous open beta. They also liked Wo Long's more aggressive style compared to Nioh's slower pace, which the developer said was intentional to express the samurai-like feel of the combat, but was no longer necessary in a Chinese-inspired game.
Additionally, the developers demonstrated the battle against two new bosses, Yan Liang and Wen Chou, both inspired by the 14th-century historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. They expressed their goal to include as many Chinese warlords from the historical text as possible in the game but acknowledged that some might not make it in the initial release, and the developers are now considering adding them through DLC or a season pass.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an upcoming souls-like action RPG developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo, and it is slated for release on March 3. In this game, a nameless soldier must fight against deformed and demonic versions of famous war generals who existed during the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history. The game itself takes place during real historical events, but embellishes them with dark fantasy elements drawn from folklore and mythology.
