The Day Before is an open-world MMO with survival mechanics, and players will have to fight against flesh-devouring zombies and scavenge for supplies as they try to survive in a post-apocalyptic USA. In the earlier trailers, the game showcased players fighting against hordes of zombies and enemy patrols in an incredibly detailed world. From all the initial marketing, The Day Before looked really promising, with it becoming the second-most wishlisted game on Steam. But as time went on and the problems started to roll in, prospective consumers began to speculate if the game was just another case of smoke and mirrors.
As fate would have it, the next blow to the game's reputation came right after the release of the latest gameplay trailers. Twitter user Chrome noticed that a certain cinematic section of the first gameplay trailer looks to be almost identical to the initial Zombies trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War that focused on the map Die Maschine. The keen-eyed observer even provides a series of screenshots identifying the exact frames of The Day Before trailer, where it almost looks like the CoD Zombies trailer has been copied on a frame-by-frame basis. While this could just be a massive coincidence, the game's controversial status doesn't make this situation any better.

It is clear that The Day Before has taken inspiration from multiple games. The initial trailers and marketing material depicted a world that looked like an amalgamation of Tom Clancy's The Division and The Last Of Us. The cinematic portions of the trailer could just be another case of the developer studio Fntastic taking inspiration from another critically acclaimed zombie shooter game. While accusations of plagiarism should not be taken lightly, players should be careful and heed only official information.
Many players have likened the current situation to that of another game called Abandoned that failed to deliver on its promises. Only time will tell if The Day Before will manage to follow through on its promise of the November release or get delayed once again.
The Day Before is scheduled to release on November 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
