One of the many field upgrades available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer is the Tactical Camera which lets players more easily monitor their surroundings. Despite not being the most popular piece of equipment, one Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 player has demonstrated how useful the Tactical Camera can be in the right hands.

Field upgrades in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 are pieces of equipment that players can use as part of their loadout to give them an edge on the battlefield. Rather than being lethal, these upgrades are primarily designed to give players a tactical advantage. For example, the Tactical Insertion upgrade lets players mark a location on the map as their next spawn point, meaning a player can respawn directly into a good vantage point and get the jump on the enemy team.

One of the less popular field upgrades is the Tactical Camera, a deployable remote-control camera that players can use to monitor certain locations. A previous iteration of this idea was the Camera Spike in Call of Duty: Black Ops, a piece of equipment that was popular enough at the time to prompt players to ask for the Camera Spike to return to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Tactical Camera is less popular compared to other field upgrades, but one player showed how useful it can be by using the camera to get eyes on an unsuspecting player hiding on the second floor of a building, then shooting them through the ceiling of the first floor.


This player, known as Longbow92 on Reddit, shared a clip of this kill on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 subreddit while referencing a line from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare that is now one of many Call of Duty memes. Some fans gathered in the comments of the post saying they were inspired to try out the Tactical Camera after seeing the clip. One user named MinekraftMastr1 mentioned that players can detonate C4 while using the tactical camera, something that could be useful in game modes like Search and Destroy.

Call of Duty's multiplayer is most characterized by being fast, intense, and centered more around reflexes than strategy. Apart from some objective game modes like Search and Destroy, Call of Duty does not do much to encourage objective play or tactics. However, the inclusion and use of items like the Tactical Camera show that there is room for more coordinated play in Call of Duty. While it is unlikely that Call of Duty will ever go fully in the direction of a tactical shooter like Rainbow Six Siege, the inclusion of these items ensures that players will always have multiple ways to approach battles.
