For the most part, game devs would rather have every second of development time they can get, as it's a very complicated field of work that requires a lot of fine-tuning. Sometimes even weeks can make a big difference. So, changing a release date so that a game comes out sooner instead of later is quite odd. It seemingly means that the developers over at Dambuster Studios feel very confident that their game is complete, and thus, that the game is quite likely to hit its new release date.
You asked for it, you got it. Dead Island 2 went gold and it's coming out a week early.

This is quite notable, as Dead Island 2 was originally announced in 2014, about nine years ago, and after going through several different studios before reaching Dambuster, many assumed that the title was doomed to cancelation and would never see the light of day. Even after its rebooted reveal at Gamescom 2022, the game first had a slated date of February 3, 2023. Then, in November 2022, the game was delayed to April 28, 2023.
So, unsurprisingly, fans weren't too confident about the game actually hitting its April release date, but, for now, it would appear as though those fears were unfounded. When it comes to why the game was moved up at all, nothing concrete was really stated, though the cheeky video does show off many fans lamenting the game's delays and requesting that it be released sooner. Answering a fan's query about the change, the official account replied with "Cause we've all been waiting for too long."
Though this is baseless conjecture, the decision to delay could be, in part, to get ahead of the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was recently delayed to the exact previous date, April 28. Star Wars is a powerhouse of an IP, and their games often sell very well, taking a lot of the overall market's attention. Releasing the exact same day as a AAA Star Wars game would have probably been detrimental for Dead Island 2's sales.
