Apex Legends And Call Of Duty Veterans Create New Studio

Former Apex Legends and Titanfall veterans have split from Electronic Arts to establish a new studio, Wildlight Entertainment. The studio's first game will be a triple-a shooter that it has reportedly been working on for some time.

According to the official website, Wildlight Entertainment aims to create a new shooter IP that will fully be original. "We are a new, fully-funded entertainment studio hyper-focused on creating big, bold, original gaming universes of epic quality and scale. We’ve been quietly working on a new IP for some time, and while it’ll be a bit before we can say more, we’re beyond excited for what’s to come,” the studio teased what it has been working on for quite some time.

The studio's staff page shows that most of the developer team moved up from Respawn Entertainment, Electronic Arts' internal studio that worked on Titanfall and Apex Legends. It also lists alumni from developers such as Santa Monica, Riot Games, and Infinity Ward. Like the other new startups, Wildlife Entertainment offers both hybrid and full remote work, saying that: "We believe people should be able to work wherever they can be most productive."

Serving as senior designer for Titanfall 2 is Chad Grenier, who joined Wildlife Entertainment as the studio head and game director. The first name listed on the staff page is Mohamad Alavi, who previously worked on Apex Legends, Titanfall, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. He is now promoted from senior game designer to lead designer within Wildlife Entertainment. The staff also includes Kristen Altamirano (Fallout: New Vegas), Mike Cook (Apex Legends), Alicia Alunni (Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order), and Brian Burrel (Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare).

Earlier this month, Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment were reported to have canceled a single-player shooter set in the Titanfall Universe. Mohamad Alavi, lead designer at Wildlight Entertainment, was reportedly leading a team of developers before leaving Respawn Entertainment. The Apex Legends developer announced the closure of Apex Legends Mobile and the cancelation of Battlefield Mobile earlier this month.

The ultimate modern day arcade shooter - not down my street but would probably be a success!

That's kinda a crazy mix. Wonder how they'll go forward.

A mix of those two franchises sounds awful. Far too cartoony for my liking!
