The hotly anticipated title from publisher Neowiz and developer Round 8 Studio has already generated a lot of excitement from its potential fan base with trailer releases in the past. A trailer from December showed off the various dark steampunk locations players will be able to travel to one the game launches this summer, while a follow-up trailer released in January honed in on its punishing souls-like combat.
The announcement trailer was shorter and somewhat more cinematic and liner than the others, with the villainous Mr. Geppetto delivering a hand-wringingly diabolical diatribe of a voiceover as scenes of a tendril-like abomination and a mystical blue spark both creep around the wreckage of a mechanical hulk. There are then interspersed shots of a machine firing a blue burst of light into some sort of pedestal standing before the cackling Mr. Geppetto, as well as a shot of the now fused moster/mechanoid hubrid and its multiple faces of terror.
Lies of P will see players take on the role of a mechanical humanoid Pinocchio as he battles hordes of terrifying enemies as part of his goals of becoming a fully fledged human being, and the developer has promised that the game will contain a wide variety of quests as well as multiple endings. Despite the numerous trailers, much of the game's plot is still shrouded in mystery, and the newest release from Saturday doesn't really help to clear things up, seeming to thrive more on questions than answers at this stage.
Although no official launch date yet exists outside the August window, Lies of P will arrive this summer for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, And PC. It will also be available as part of Xbox Game Pass.
