Steam users have a limited time to claim Sludge Life completely free of charge for their digital libraries. Steam isn't exactly known for giving away free games all the time, but the platform has offered its users quite a few free games as of late. Sludge Life is just the latest free Steam game that users have been able to claim in the month of March.

Earlier in March, Steam gave away Figment for free, likely to help generate interest in Figment 2: Creed Valley, which was set to launch the following week. More recently, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-shot Adventure was free on Steam to help celebrate the platform's Spring Sale promotion. Now Steam users have yet another free game to claim, and as usual, there is limited time to do so.

Sludge Life is free on Steam from now until March 30 at 12:00pm CT. The game usually costs $14.99, so anyone interested should be sure to claim it while Steam is still giving it away for free. For those unfamiliar with the game, Sludge Life is described as an open world vandalism game where players explore a "polluted island" in first-person. It has "Very Positive" reviews from Steam users and a 75 overall rating from critics.

Something to note about Sludge Life is the game is extremely short. In fact, most people can get through Sludge Life in just a couple of hours, so PC gamers should keep that in mind. However, it's difficult to knock a game for its short playtime when it's being given away for free. Someone who paid full price for Sludge Life may come away from it disappointed when they realize how short it is, so getting it as a free game through Steam may really be the best way to experience it.

PC gamers have free games to claim all the time, even if it's not always through Steam. Steam competitor Epic Games Store gives away free games every week, with the current free game offering being the well-reviewed Chess Ultra. Other digital storefronts offer free games sometimes as well, with one notable example being GOG, which recently gave away a horror game for free. Just as Steam was previously giving away Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-shot Adventure to help promote the Steam Spring Sale, the free horror game on GOG was meant to promote its equivalent sale. It's likely future free PC games will be given away as part of these promotions to generate interest in the sales and hopefully sell some games to the people checking out the storefronts to claim their freebies.
