Publisher Electronic Arts and developer Ascendant Studios have announced that their first-person fantasy shooter title Immortals of Aveum will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on July 20. It will have a $69.99 price tag across all platforms.

Described as a "single-player fantasy magical shooter", Immortals of Aveum tells the story of Jak as he joins an army of Immortals to save the world. The Immortals are the champion protectors of Aveum and the only hope against complete annihilation. According to the developer team, the combat is fast, easy to learn, and based on spells players will gain along the way. In addition, the combat rewards player for their clever chained attacks and counters, much like modern souls-like games.



Immortals of Aveum is a story-driven game where players will master three forces of magic and use a wide variety of spells to overcome enemies. The game's fantasy world features plenty of characters that players will interact with to learn more about their stories to become an Immortal. Players will unlock more than 80 talents and 25 spells to define their combat style. They will also find new magical gears and upgrade them to save a world on the edge of the abyss. If there is any hope of doing so, Jak must uncover the secrets of Aveum's dark history.

Electronic Arts has released a debut trailer for Immortals of Aveum, which gives players an early look at the combat and graphics. The game is being developed by Ascendant Studios, an independent developer team that previously worked on titles such as Borderlands 2, BioShock 2, and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Creative director of the original Dead Space and multiple Call of Duty campaigns, Bret Robbins, is also involved in the project.

"I'm incredibly excited to finally show the world Immortals of Aveum. It's been a five-year journey for us at Ascendant, and I'm so proud of the team and their commitment to making something great," Bret Robbins said via a press release. "We set out to create a cinematic, thrilling shooter set in a new fantasy world, with fast and fluid combat and an epic story. I can't wait for everyone to play it.”

A deluxe edition for Immortals of Aveum will also launch for $79.99, which includes plenty of in-game items like rings, chains, and gauntlets. Players who pre-order the game will receive the Purified Archlight, a blue sigil that will unleash more power for Jak.
