This version of Company of Heroes 3 is a first for the series, given the beloved RTS franchise will be coming to consoles for the very first time. Relic Entertainment is bringing a new custom UI and a full tactical pause feature, which will allow players to freeze the action to take a detailed look at the battlefield while planning their strategies. The development team also stated the user interface has been adapted for console controllers to ensure the same level of fun as the PC version.
Company of Heroes 3 tells a wealth of stories from World War 2, with its narrative taking players to a real theatre of war. The game offers twice as many armies as any past game in the series, comprising two single-player campaigns and four factions — US Forces, British Forces, Wehrmacht, and Deutsches Afrikakorps. In a gripping linear experience, players will lead a mobile and mechanized army known as the Africakorps while diving into a great war in Italy to unleash precision plays.
Players can also join battles with up to four friends in multiplayer mode. The latest entry in the series introduces new mechanics, such as side armor profiles, tank riding, and an enhanced battle group system. Infantries can catch a ride on armored vehicles to change the course of the combat, with side armor profiles rewarding smart positional plays. A deeper battlegroup system allows players to command forces from Italy, Canada, and India, bringing a whole new meaning to clever maneuvers.
Company of Heroes 3 received its first major update at the end of March 2023, adding new challenges, cosmetics, and gameplay tweaks. Titled The Briefing Hub, this new story hub features insights and perspectives from leading World War 2 historians.
