LEGO 2K Drive’s Physical Switch Copy Will Only Come with a Code

Physical releases on the Nintendo Switch don’t often pan out the way they should, and all too often, retail versions of games on the platform end up being not very physical at all, swapping out a game cartridge for a download code of the game in question. Unfortunately, another pretty major release is going to go down that route.

As reported by Nintendo Everything, retailer listings for the retail version of LEGO 2K Drive on the Nintendo Switch have started going up, and the cover art shown on the listings (see below) confirms that the retail version will come with a download code for the game instead of an actual cartridge.

As per the Switch eShop, LEGO 2K Drive’s file size on the Switch will be roughly 4.5 GB, so one would imagine that its size wouldn’t have been an issue where a physical release is concerned. Why the decision was made to go with download codes instead of cartridges in the retail release is anyone’s best guess, then.

LEGO 2K Drive is set to launch on May 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
