Diablo 4 Hardcore PvP Has Fans Divided Due To Permadeath

3.3
Permadeath will apply to players in Diablo 4's PvP Hardcore mode if they are killed by another player, one of the game's top developers has confirmed. This controversial feature has seemingly fans divided over the consequences of losing their fully-equipped characters.

The confirmation comes directly from Blizzard's Global Community Development Director Adam Fletcher, who responded to a Twitter user asking if permadeath will apply to PvP hardcore players. The subject having been mentioned a couple of times, he replied with a clear "Permadeath", confirming that players will have to face harsh consequences for being killed by another player.

The Diablo community has taken to Reddit to share its concerns over permadeath, which will reportedly be a complete loss of progress, experience, and equipment. Players will have to spend a certain amount of time to equip their characters, who will be sent to the void as a result of a PvP encounter gone wrong.

This feature has divided fans over the consequences of losing characters, with some claiming that it sounds exciting and others feeling apprehensive. A Reddit user who goes by DocDeezy came up with a different assumption, saying that it would be great to see top-ranking PvP players go up against each other.

In reply to this, nftvaccine pointed to the permadeath feature's potential, but seemed skeptical as to what portion of the player base would want to risk losing all their hard-earned loot.

On the flip side, some have claimed that permadeath sounds good until you're the victim. Others are curious about why Blizzard would bring such a potentially unpopular kind of feature to the PvP mode, as well as how many people would invest months of hard work just to have it ruined by a random player.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, some are asking Blizzard to take things one step further and reward PVP killers by letting them loot their victims.

It is currently unknown if Blizzard will draw back its decision to bring permadeath to the PvP mode. In other Diablo 4 news, players will be able to try the game once again in a beta event, which will take place from May 12 to May 14.
