Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition texture pack support coming

The list of features still to be added to Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is quite long but 4J Studios revealed Monday that texture pack support is being added to the hit Xbox LIVE Arcade title.

"We have started work on texture pack support," the studio said in response to a fan's question. "No dates for any releases yet though."

Adding support for texture packs will allow users to change the look of the blocks that are used to construct the Minecraft worlds along with mobs and the user interface. This feature has been a part of the game since it was in alpha but it was unknown if it would ever come to the console version.

How it will be implemented is still a question since Microsoft does not allow for easy modding via Xbox LIVE. 4J Studios is already working on "tailored mods" for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition so it is possible the developer could implement a similar solution for texture packs.

Why complain about them making someone pay? it is an optional add-on, they aren't forcing you to buy it. Same with the skins, its optional.

It's a lot more than just $2 for 40+ skins. It's like $5 for 15 skins.

The xbox won't have mods. Mojang and 4J have already said there won't be mods.


It is $2 for 40; 160 msp is one skin pack which has ~40 skins and that's exactly 2 dollars
