Sales of Call of Duty are disappointing.

Sales of Black Ops 2 are currently looking to be down 15 percent on last years launch of Modern Warfare 3. Which itself was down 5 percent on the previous years Black Ops launch. This is despite it's incredible $500 Million first day sales.

Analysts are calling this trend “a cause for concern” for Activision-Blizzard as the Call of Duty franchise is responsible of 45% of Activision's earnings.

Players and reviewers have become increasingly complacent regarding the latest Call of Duty releases, going so far as to call Treyarch and Infinity Ward, lazy. Shorter single player campaigns and the same old game engine being the most common complaints.


David Vondehaar recently had to defend the use of an ancient (in gaming years) gaming engine. “Anybody who comes at the engine needs to remember it's the 60 frames they love in the first place," he asserted. "And we can make it beautiful - that's through years and years of working with the engine, improving upon it and improving the pipeline and improving our approach, our lighting rendering.”

"People like to talk about the engine, but the truth of the matter is that this isn't like something that was invented six years ago. At this point that engine doesn't resemble anything like any engine - we've ripped out the UI system, the rendering and the lighting are all new, the core gameplay systems are all new.”

Halo 4 didn't outsell the first week sales of Halo 3. Nuff said.
If that means it is still going strong, then Call of Duty is too.

First off bops2 can't say it has more online players, they did a study two weeks after halo4 came out for 10 days which had more people. That doesn't prove ****, give me numbers at the end of january.

Second Halo4 just barely under sold halo3 and how is that even count. Halo4 is made by a different studio, nobody knew how the game would come out; so of course it sales wouldn't be as high. And it beat Reach's sales showing a comeback.

And third I wouldn't say CoD isn't strong anymore. Their still making money up the ass, but there fan base and sales are starting to drop showing there heading down hill. Unless they make a drastic change with next gen consoles the franchise could be in trouble.

i really dont see what you all are fighting over halo and call of duty are great games. i play both 48 in halo and 1 prestige 45 in bo2, halo reach sucked balls they tried makeing new **** but all it did was benefit the noob and the "o but its in the game ppl they put it in it takes skill" no it doesn't armor lock= ****. bo2 only reason i see it being bad is: bad kids using shotguns (if your one and try to defend bull **** my 7 year old brother played using shotgun went positive) campers, tryhard teams (clans) u get paired up with them because the stupid matchmaking system is **** a lie "skill based" my ass vonderheart i have window licking team mates my kd is over 2 and u give me kids under .7 **** that.now halo 4 i see less of that but i do get some try hard clans ( i do just play with friends anymore so i dont get random idiots) and the ar noob that cant get headshots, or the dominon camper not going for bases (on your team)

neither of these games takes any practice maybe a 4 game after playing the other for a week but i dont see how people can suck at these games.

so my piont is awesome fun games bo2 may need more zombie maps (granted transit is big but not the actual destinations its like half of veruct for almost every place) and halo may need ppl that are good/ more **** maps.
but in the end both games= better than runescape so suck my d and play the **** game
