Even if there are some small hiccups like this along the way, gamers are still overall excited about the future of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Things have been quiet since the 2015 release of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, but the recent reveal of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater as well as this collection has things going in the right direction once again.
The issue was reported by Redditor TonyAbyss after they purchased the compendium on Steam. Annoyingly, each game in the collection has a title that is far too long for Steam's default UI, so players can't even see which game they're launching. Gamers can stretch the width of their Steam library, but to have to do so for the sake of one collection seems to be irritating at best. One suggestion in the thread was for Steam to allow custom titles, but that doesn't seem to be on the way any time soon. Players can purchase Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 games separately, which would solve the issue for anyone wanting a single game. However, those wanting the full collection will have to put up with this for the time being.
Titling games this way should be banned by Steam, this is terrible UX

Gamers picking up Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 on PC might find themselves disappointed, because it seems to be missing a few basics that players have come to expect from the platform. Just recently, it was revealed that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 doesn't support mouse and keyboard on PC, requiring a controller to play. Luckily, both of these problems seem to be very fixable, especially with months before the collection is supposed to be released yet. Hopefully Konami takes on board the early criticism from the community, who just want the best compendium of games possible.
While gamers wait patiently for the release of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, the gears already seem to be turning on Konami's next move for the franchise. A leak for the Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 2 revealed three games supposedly coming to the collection, bringing rumors that the fourth game in the franchise would finally be released from its PS3 exclusivity. It's unknown just how accurate this report is, but if it turns out to be correct, then Metal Gear Solid fans have plenty to be excited about in the near future.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 will release on October 24th for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
