Mortal Kombat 1 Was Actually Leaked Last Year, But Nobody Noticed

Mortal Kombat fans have only just realized that plot and gameplay details on the next entry in the franchise, Mortal Kombat 1, were actually leaked last year by an unknown account. At the time, nobody took the claims seriously, but with official details now out in the wild, it turns out they were all true this whole time.

NetherRealm Studios unveiled Mortal Kombat 1 for the first time back in May, confirming that the next game in the series would completely reboot the franchise. "The game will introduce a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe that has been created by the Fire God Liu Kang, featuring reimagined versions of iconic characters as they’ve never been seen before, along with a new fighting system, game modes, bone krushing finishing moves, and more", NetherRealm announced.

Many fans were expecting the next entry in the series to be a simple continuation, likely titled Mortal Kombat 12. But fans were shocked by the announcement that Mortal Kombat 1 would be a complete reboot with a brand-new timeline. However, one leaker actually had the inside scoop all the way back in 2022.

The post, which has since been deleted, was titled "Happy New Year r/mortalkombatleaks. I bring you a riddle for things in MK12. Solve it all and I will leak more. Good luck." A total of nine riddles were then posted by the leaker, who later went on to reveal the correct answers, which can be seen in the image below thanks to a Reddit user.

Many of the above statements are now confirmed to be true, such as the new Kameo fighter system, which NetherRealm says "brings a unique roster of partner characters into the mix." The studio then went on to confirm more details on the system at this year's Summer Game Fest event, revealing that players will be able to summon fighters with the press of a button.

Sadly, the leaker in question has vanished, deleting their account along with the post, which means there likely won't be any further insider scoops from the leaker. Thankfully though, Mortal Kombat 1 is right around the corner, with only a couple of months left to go until release.
