6 Year Old Game is Back Near the Top of the Xbox Sales Charts

4.3
Friday the 13th: The Game has managed to find itself back near the top of the bestsellers list on Xbox. Friday the 13th: The Game is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where one player takes on the role of iconic villain Jason Voorhees and the rest play as unfortunate camp counselors. The game had a sizable dedicated community of players at first, but interest waned thanks to a lack of substantial content updates and other issues.

The legal battles over the Friday the 13th IP saw to it that no major new content was released for Friday the 13th: The Game. Online multiplayer games like this require a steady stream of new content to keep fans engaged, and so these legal issues were basically a death sentence for the game. Despite this, Friday the 13th: The Game still managed to hold on for a few years, though its shutdown is imminent.

Friday the 13th: The Game is being delisted on December 31, 2023, at which point it will become completely unplayable. Because of this, the game is currently enjoying a massive discount that has seen the Xbox version's price reduced to just $4.99. This in turn has resulted in a sales spike for the game that has seen it climb back into the top 10 best-selling Xbox games, as pointed out by Pure Xbox. Right now, Friday the 13th: The Game is the eighth-best selling digital Xbox game.

Diablo 4
Grand Theft Auto Online
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Cross-Gen Bundle
Grand Theft Auto 5: Premium Edition
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint: Deluxe Edition
Hogwarts Legacy (Xbox One)
Minecraft
Friday the 13th: The Game
Hogwarts Legacy (Xbox Series X version)
Grand Theft Auto 4

An even older game is currently in the 10th place spot, as Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 4 is also enjoying a nice a price cut, currently available for $6.99 instead of the usual $19.99. The Xbox Series X version of Hogwarts Legacy is in the ninth place, followed by Friday the 13th: The Game, Minecraft, the Xbox One version of Hogwarts Legacy, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint: Deluxe Edition (discounted from $69.99 to $13.99), Grand Theft Auto 5: Premium Edition, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Cross-Gen Bundle, Grand Theft Auto Online, and the standard edition of Diablo 4.

It's worth pointing out that anyone that decides to buy Friday the 13th: The Game while it's discounted to $4.99 will be getting a rather complete version of the game. Since the game is shutting down anyway, Friday the 13th players have all been taken to max level automatically, given the best rolls for all 30 legendary perks, and given other unlockables like all the different kills, and challenge skulls. Friday the 13th: The Game will remain playable until December 31, so anyone interested in playing it before it shuts down forever should jump on the opportunity to get it for $5 while they still can.

Friday the 13th: The Game is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.

Such a shame it's going to be gone forever in December
