Assassin's Creed Mirages Takes Around 20 Hours To Beat, Say Devs

4.3
Assassin's Creed Mirage will be on the shorter side, taking around 20 hours to beat. That's according to devs sharing details about the game in a Reddit AMA, telling fans that they can expect Asassin's Creed Mirage to take about as long to beat as the first few games in the series, released back in the '00s.

This aligns with the idea of making a much more scaled-back Assaassin's Creed game, aimed at those that find more recent instalments too bloated. Comparing the runtime to the earlier games could also be quite significant, indicating that these titles have been on the developers' minds throughout Mirage's production.

"In terms of playtime, we are closer to the first AC games," says narrative director Sarah Beaulieu, as part of the Reddit Q&A. While this isn't an exact figure, it does give us enough info to make an educated guess, and indicates that it will take at least 15, but less than 30 hours to beat - perhaps around 20 to 25 hours if you're not fussed about completing all of the side content, but want to dip your toe in.

Given all the ways to tackle an Assassin's Creed game, we can definitely expect runtimes to vary from player to player. Even in the first game in the series, doing a fair bit of side content can take you up to about 20 hours, and being a completionist will take you even longer. Still, this is a pretty good indicator that we'll be able to breeze through Mirage if we want, giving us a much shorter game in a sea of 60-hour-plus releases. Sometimes, that's all you need anyway.

In light of this shorter runtime, the devs also revealed that there are currently no plans for Mirage to get DLC or "extensive post-launch" updates. While this is quite unique for a modern Ubisoft game, it's not very shocking in Mirage's case. It actually began its life as DLC for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, only for it to be decided in development that it should actually be its own standalone game. Making DLC for what was once a DLC might be too much to juggle right now, especially when we're being promised a stripped-back AC experience. The worst thing for it would be to bog it down with season passes and different content packs.

We'll see for ourselves how long it takes to beat Assassin's Creed Mirage when it launched on October 12, later this year.
