Activision confirms MW2 content will transfer to Call of Duty 2023

Activision has confirmed that a range of content from Modern Warfare 2 will transfer to Call of Duty 2023.

On Monday it posted a Twitter poll asking if Modern Warfare 2 operators, weapons and bundles should carry forward into this year’s series entry. The two available options for replaying are ‘Yes’, and ‘Yes, when is reveal?’

Call of Duty 2023 is reportedly a continuation of last year’s Modern Warfare 2, developed by Sledgehammer Games.

Earlier this week, images which may have originated from an internal test for the unannounced game first revealed that content would carry over from Modern Warfare 2.

The upcoming sequel will also reportedly feature the return of the classic mini map and the Ninja perk, with perks categorised into different pieces of “gear” including gloves, helmets and boots.

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” was reportedly referenced in DMCA takedown notices Activision sent to Twitter users who have been sharing images of the new game online in recent days.

In February, Bloomberg claimed Activision had originally planned to release a major Modern Warfare 2 expansion this year, but that the DLC had morphed into a full game.

Citing people familiar with the project, it claimed Activision’s goal for the new Call of Duty is to make a game that feels “like a standalone, full-price release and also an extension of Modern Warfare II”.

Maps and modes from Modern Warfare 2 will be carried over to the new title, the report added.

Several NBA players took to social media earlier this month to claim that they had been shown a demo of 2023’s Call of Duty title.

Looking further ahead, it’s been claimed that Call of Duty 2024 will be a new Black Ops title set during the Gulf War and developed by Treyarch.
