Verdansk was the very first battle royale map when Call of Duty: Warzone was released back in 2020, as well as being the setting for 2019's reboot of the Modern Warfare series. Despite its flaws, Verdansk has become a fan-favorite map amongst the Call of Duty community, with many expressing extreme disappointment when it was replaced by Caldera back in November of 2022.
Looks like one of the campaign missions in #ModernWarfareIII may take place in the stadium from Verdansk.

Other parts of the trailer may show the prison from Verdansk and the ice from the Dam.

Since Verdansk's demise, Call of Duty fans have been treated to Warzone 2.0 and a handful of new battle royale maps, with the most recent addition being Vondel. Unlike the original Warzone, Infinity Ward has been swapping maps in and out of rotation with the weekly playlist updates. Something many fans were hoping for when Caldera was initially released.
But just when all hope of Verdansk's return had been lost, the first reveal trailer for Modern Warfare III has already got fans up in arms about the map's possible return.
As noted by ModernWarzone, it appears as though a campaign mission in Modern Warfare III will be set inside of Stadium, which was a popular point of interest in Verdansk. Other sections of the trailer also appear to show two other points of interest, including Prison and Dam.
Although it is seeming highly likely that Verdansk will be returning in some way in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III campaign, it does not mean that it will return as a battle royale map in Warzone.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be released on November 10th, 2023.
