Destiny 2 Getting a PvP Strike Team to Improve the State of Crucible

4.4
Destiny 2 is getting a “PvP Strike Team,” which is basically a dedicated team of developers who will be solely focused on improving the game’s Crucible mode. This was announced by game director, Joe Blackburn, shortly after the Destiny 2 weekly reset.

The Destiny 2 community has been asking for a comprehensive update on the state of PvP for a long time. While Bungie has addressed PvP on some occasions, the community wasn’t really happy with the pace of the progress where only one new Crucible map was launched in Destiny 2 every year and major changes took a lot of time to be implemented. However, this is something Bungie plans to change by next year, and is putting together a separate team that will only focus on making changes to PvP modes quickly.

To reveal this, Bungie took a different approach and got Destiny 2’s director, Joe Blackburn, to communicate these changes directly. In the video, he explained how the “PvP Strike Team” will keep monitoring community feedback and compile a list of things to be changed. Once these changes are approved by Blackburn and other senior members, those will be instantly communicated to the players before the implementation kicks off. According to Blackburn, Bungie has found a lot of success with this communication approach for Destiny 2, and the fans have applauded it as well. However, he clarified that Bungie will still be using its team accounts for communication regarding Destiny 2 as developer safety is its top priority.

Along with this, Blackburn also revealed that Destiny 2 will get a dedicated map pack every year that will contain new maps in one drop. He also expressed his excitement for the changes arriving with Destiny 2 Season 22 and revealed that more PvP game modes will be coming to the game’s core playlists. An interesting point that Blackburn mentioned was how the live-service of Destiny 2 will change after The Final Shape DLC next year, which will be explained in detail at the August 22 showcase.

The Final Shape is the last expansion for the game and will end the Light vs. Darkness saga. With Lightfall, Bungie chose to unravel information in subsequent seasons rather than explaining everything in the DLC’s campaign, which didn’t sit well with the fans. In response, Bungie confirmed that Destiny 2 The Final Shape campaign and raid will provide a climactic ending to the Light vs. Darkness story.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
