Following the success of Lost Eidolons, Ocean Drive Studios has been working on a turn-based strategy RPG spin-off set in the same universe. Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch looks to provide you with sweaty, high-stakes grid combat.

Ocean Drive Studios Creative Director Jin Sang Kim said that after the first game, the studio wanted to change up the pacing in Veil of the Witch. Leaning into smaller, more digestible chunks of narrative rather than longer, meatier cut scenes.

Experimenting with the turn-based strategy genre, Ocean Drive Studios is bringing a rogue-like element into the mix. From our time with the demo, this was evident with the difficulty.

“The rogue-like element is my favorite,” said Kim, “because you get to choose what kind of skills you want to go for each time.”

With a variety of different skills, players could find themselves building their characters differently with each run. You return to a base camp when you die where you can spend resources gathered on runs to strengthen your allies before you try again, and again.

As one of the first rogue-like strategy RPGs, Ocean Drive Studios is charting some new territory. You can find out where they take the genre blend when Lost Eidolons releases in early access on Steam in the first half of 2024. A simultaneous release on consoles is targeted at a later date.
