Crysis 4 could explore different genres, hints Crytek producer

The Crysis franchise "definitely" has a future - and it could be in a genre other than the one it built its reputation with.

That's according to Crytek producer Michael Elliot Read, who told Dusty Cartridge he feels there's plenty of life left in the franchise to be explored beyond Crysis 3.
"You know, I think at this point I don't want to give anything away," Read said in an interview. "But I think the Crysis franchise itself has life left in it. Whether it's in a different game type format, whether it's expanding upon this, it's hard to say. That's going to be up to the designers at the end of the day.

"But I think we've built... Crysis was always intended to be a trilogy and I think that over that time we've built a really cool universe. We haven't really gone in and said 'Hey let's put Nano suits and clown suits and stuff and completely violate and sell our IP.'

"We've done a fairly good job at maintaining that, so I think in terms of the universe, we have a lot more life left in that to go back and try some unique stuff. Whether it's FPS or not I have no idea, but there's definitely a future in the franchise."

Crytek is currently working on THQ shooter sequel Homefront 2 and Kinect brawler Ryse.

EA has confirmed a Crysis 3 release date of February 19 in US and February 22 in Europe.

Not to big a fan of Crysis, did try it once or twice but could never get with it for me. Probably won't be buying another one.

Fold I have Crysis 2, I mean, I gave it a decent shot but it simply didn't live up to my standards. I hated the storyline of "find this man here" "Nevermind, he's over here now" "He has been kidnapped, go back to where you started" etc. and it eventually just wore me down.

I agree, wasn't up to my standards either.
