There’s very little doubt that EA hoped that Wild Hearts would be its verison of Capcom’s Monster Hunter. Both games are action-RPGs set in a world where the protagonist must hunt down colossal monsters with powerful weapons. However, there are some stark differences between the two games. When Wild Hearts hit the shelves earlier this year, it looked like the game had a bright future, with plenty of buzz surrounding it and a generally favorable review of 79 on Metacritic. Today, it seems like the future isn’t as bright for this Monster Hunter-like game.
According to Reddit user BeardyShaman, who is also the moderator of the official Discord channel for Wild Hearts, EA may be pulling the plug on support for the game. In his post about the matter, BeardyShaman explains that EA doesn’t want to give the game the time it needs to grow and make Wild Hearts the next Monster Hunter. EA apparently expected Wild Hearts to be a multi-million dollar game right away, and it doesn't want to spend the time, or money to get the game there. Fans should keep in mind that an official announcement about EA potentially ending support for Wild Hearts hasn't been made at the time of this writing.

The reason for EA allegedly pulling the plug on Wild Hearts may be due to low sales for the game, but it could also be due to the bugs and glitches that the game was plagued with when it first launched. There were many people reporting bugs in Wild Hearts for both the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 back in February, and it's possible that many gamers wanted to wait until those issues cleared up before they started playing. It’s not required for Wild Hearts to have an internet connection, so players can still play the game after support ends.
For Wild Hearts fans who also play Monster Hunter there have been a lot of rumors going around that the next game in the franchise may make an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show next week. If this does happen, at least Wild Hearts fans will have something to look forward to in order to scratch that monster-hunting itch.
Wild Hearts is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
