CDPR Spent Nearly $41 Million on Cyberpunk 2077’s Post-Launch Updates

4.1
CD Projekt RED has spent nearly three years releasing updates and patches for Cyberpunk 2077, some of which – like the recent Update 2.0 – have been quite significant. The developer has managed to turn around what started as a thoroughly disappointing experience into a legitimately good one, and sure enough, it’s spent the money to reflect that.

During CD Projekt’s recent investor day presentation, chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz revealed that the company spent 178 million PLN (which is roughly $41 million) on all of the free post-launch updates and patches that Cyberpunk 2077 received.

Previously, the developer has revealed that the Cyberpunk 2077 base game cost roughly $316 million, while recently, it also revealed that Phantom Liberty had a total development and marketing budget of nearly $85 million. In total, we’re looking at a nearly $450 million expenditure by CDPR on Cyberpunk 2077.

It has, of course, also enjoyed significant commercial success, in spite of its troubled launch. Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 25 million units worldwide, while Phantom Liberty sold over 3 million units in its first week.

Runts Jfc that is an insane amount of money I wonder if they even make that back lol

They've definitely made it back if it's shipped 25m units. The cost to produce the game definitely shows when playing it. Great attention to detail.
