The Next-Generation Xbox could have an eight-core CPU, according to new leaks.

4.7
It is rumored that an ex-Ubisoft employee known as 'BD' claims to know all information about the upcoming Next-Generation console from Microsoft, including the RAM, and much more.
According to him, the Next-Gen Xbox will have an eight-core CPU, and an 8800 series GPU. Whilst rumors are still going around about the new console running on a AMD HD 8000M graphics card.
It is also rumored that Microsoft will be using Windows 8 kernel for the system, which is to be expected, as they have been pushing it out a lot. He said that it will have 8 GB memory and a 640 GB hard drive.
Sources also say that Microsoft has refined DirectX 11 for a "fixed hardware gaming platform."
Please treat this like any other rumor, as nothing is confirmed yet. However, these are times when insiders can leak out information for a variety of reasons. E3 2013 will be held on June 13, so not long to go before Microsoft finally unveils the system to the world.

Ant Rumors, leaks blah blah blah...nothing is confirmed until Microsoft finally decides to announce the console.

Users commenting on a $1000 price tag, it would be irrational for a console which has fixed specs with $60 games to make a console so expensive, you can build a PC which would probably outspec the 720 for less than that. $350-$400 does seem to be a good ballpark for the 720, I can see the PS4 costing a lot more on the other hand as the PS3 was much more expensive on launch too.

On the topic of 8 core CPUs, it's just downright retarded. Majority of games nowadays still only use a single core of a CPU (including PC games) will some only dabbling into the multi-core scene. An 8 core CPU is wasted potential and money which could be pumped into upgrading the console's GPU (nothing confirmed on specs so I'll say that while taking it with a grain of salt).

There is no downside to having a large HDD either, I would want the 720/PS4 to have HDDs which are near enough to 1TB. Microsoft are starting to delve more into the digital market (AAA titles are becoming on-demand quicker) and these are exceeding sizes of 13-14GB. IF the 720 does come with a blu-ray drive, it means devs have more room to play around with as a dual layer blu-ray disk is around 50GB in size. So a large HDD would be justified if you were downloading/installing large games to it, and if the new consoles have a new save format to support that too.

In Layman's terms:

More CPU cores =/= More powerful (As I said "wasted potential")

More HDD space = VERY GOOD (More room for downloading/installing games)

Price tag predicted $350-$400.

while the games may only use 1 or 2 cores, the new kinect is suppossed to support 4 players and i think it was 1 core per user so 8 cores would make since...

T0xic8ear Wow a 120 GB console its $250+, now imagine a 640 GB hard drive I don't know it sounds way to expensive.

I highly doubt it will raise the price too much.

harddrives aren't that expensive.what will change the cost the most will be the cpus and gpus, hhds aren't too much different in price unless you comparing like a 5400rpm 40gb to a 10000rpm 2tb.

8 cores? I highly doubt that microsoft would put in an 8 core cpu just for gaming. The RAM however, will be quite nice to deal with since the lag will be almost non-existent.

They won't raise the price that much because of the HHD.

Reaiming The price of this console will probably cost an arm and a leg seeing the features that it contains..

Exactly what I was gona say. I can see it, $1,000 New Xbox 3!

Trust me, sadly I won't be surprised/

It will probably be around 4 hundred because its just unrealistic for a console to be in the thousands I mean Playstation had its highest at I think 700 and they dropped the price almost in half after everyone decided 700 is a little costly.

DEEJAYstar46 If these specs are true, then the console will probably cost a lot.

They've said it will only be $350 - $400, but they could always surprise us.
