GTA 5 publisher buys Left 4 Dead studio Turtle Rock & next gen IP "Evolve"

Take-Two Interactive has agreed to buy Turtle Rock Studios, developer of the original Left 4 Dead, and its new IP "Evolve" as part of THQ's recent IP auction.

Evolve is described as an "AAA shooter" for "current and next generation platforms" on THQ project manager Jonathan Bloch's LinkedIn resume.

Artworks found online reveal a science fiction setting featuring starships, giant insects and squad commands. The game may run on Crytek's CryEngine 3.

Take-Two is set to pay $10.8 million for Turtle Rock, easily taking over the $250,000 back-up bid offered by the studio itself.

Gah, you guys. Turtle Rock Studios developed some of the original Left 4 Dead before Valve bought them out. Other than that they didn't do much.

tat least someone knows about the company. they also worked on CSCZ and the official bots for CS

phlegm Never bought the previous L4Ds, but I am hoping to buy the next one. Especially if the makers of GTA are creating it. Should be interesting to see what they do to the game considering that they don't do survival games I presume.

I loved both l4d and l4d2, can't wait for l4d3. Will definitely save some money for it.
