The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered releases on January 19th and costs $50 for new fans or $10 for those who already own the 2020 version. Remastered titles have become commonplace over the last decade or so, with some fans worrying that a focus on such games could distract studios from creating new content. As one of PlayStation's best series, fans are understandably excited for Naughty Dog to begin focusing on the next Last of Us title, but the director behind The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered explained why the project was a worthy pursuit.
During an interview with VGC, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Director Matthew Gallant was asked what he thinks about backlash regarding the game. He explained, "I don’t understand some of the consternation about what The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered offers. It’s the best way to play The Last of Us Part 2, if you’re a new PlayStation owner and new to the franchise we want to get you the best experience with all the hardware features on a PS5 native version of the game." Gallant further explained that there's a significant portion of fans who are highly excited for the game's approaching release. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered features new content and upgraded graphics, while charging established The Last of Us fans a pretty reasonable price of $10.
The most intriguing feature of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is its new No Return mode, a roguelike twist to the popular story-based game. This mode allows users to fight through various stages while attempting to survive for as long as they can. No Return features challenges for players to complete that offer new characters and rewards. This extensive new mode is probably one of Naughty Dog's main justifications for releasing the remastered title.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered also features three new levels that were cut from the original game. These levels are quite brief compared to the ones that shipped with the original title, but they all shine additional light on Ellie's emotionally complex story.
Additionally, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered features revamped graphics that might cause it to be regarded as one of the best-looking games on PS5. The new game also implements the PS5 DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features. Reviews report that the game's visual upgrades aren't groundbreaking, but slightly improve on the original title's already impressive graphics, which will likely dazzle new fans.
