Microsoft Hiring Hacker For Next Xbox Experience?

4.3
Microsoft is looking to hire what appears to be a person with a solid background in hacking.

In a job listing on Microsoft's site for a Service Engineer, the company describes their ideal candidate as someone who tends to "void the warranty on every device" they own, and make "devices do things never intended by the manufacturer."

"We are looking for a Senior Service Engineer to help define the next generation of entertainment devices and services, and to help ensure our customers have the best possible experience, even when things go wrong. Well-qualified candidates have extensive experience in running web-based services, deconstructing interaction between client and servers (via a combination of logging, network traces, and so on); have a good understanding of C# and/or PowerShell, and excellent ability to communicate verbally and on paper."

They do make references to the "next generation of entertainment," so it is probably safe to say that this is related Xbox 720 in some form.

Or, this could just be a move by Microsoft to enhance its security for the Xbox 720. Piracy and hacks have become almost too easy to do on the Xbox 360, so it's easy to think Microsoft would want to recruit some fresh knowledge in this area.

THuNdErModsCoD I believe if microsoft does this that there will be more problems with the consoles. The hacker who works for microsoft could
1.)Change up the 720 to their advantage so it's easily modded. (there's no such thing as a nice/good modder)
2.)Experiment with the coding itself and become evil with it (The Pro/The Man is a good example of tyranny in xbl)
3.)They could easily mod their consoles because they know the coding and then start selling those consoles at a very high price(s) (like 5k [around the same price for a devkit])
4.)Start other things to take down microsoft.

Yeah there are nice hackers. I have a close friend who is paid to show companies their site exploits and how to fix them. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

THuNdErModsCoD Well, you never know, a person could be completely evil at heart and purposely give ideas for the new console to make it easily hacked/modded. I personally will never get the 720 because it's going to suck. That's just my view and I will never trust anotehr company who does this.

So... You like the Playstation better? Because if remember correctly they have a little bit of a hacking problem on there. Also PC's are the easiest things to get away with on hacking. MS has the best security on this kind of stuff and if you think otherwise then you have never played all the consoles and realized this.
No I quite dislike the playstation too. I am going to PC game, I realise that PC gamers do hack quite a bit more than console gamers do but PC gaming is just soo much better than that of consoles.

I believe this tactic will work very well in preventing exploited consoles. If they pick james or Eaton then they're set. XD

Wow, this will probably make more problems with XBL and stuff.

This seems legit.

Mhhh, this would be weird if you were getting interviewed and them asking you questions like how many devices have you voided the warranty on ...

whatsamod I don't like this idea at all, they want top Xbox people who mod/Hackers for this, which means if that person finds a flaw in the next Xbox's security, they will have to tell MS about it and MS can fix it before or after the console's release which means it will probably be impossible or just harder for the good hackers (like team Xectuer & such) to be able to mod the console for us.

Yea silly microsoft, trying to make their security safer when people want to hack and mod.

hopefully this will stop the hacking of people credit cards etc..
But allow the "in-game" mods.

Spar This is a very good idea. This will slim down on hacked Xbox 720s, I'm sure there will be some, but with this method there will be less.

i agree

There will be the same amount of modded xbox's even with this, it will just take longer to exploit it.
