6.1.3 iOS update could undo your iPhone 5 Jailbreak.

4.7
During the weekend, Team Evad3rs released their newest update for the most popular iPhone 5 jailbreak in existence, evasi0n. But, it appears that this update could be its last, as sources report that Apple's newest patch, 6.1.3, could end evasi0n's effectiveness from here on out.

One of evasi0n's creators, David Wang, says that the developer version of the patch eliminates one of the five bugs necessary for evasi0n to run — a vital exploit hidden within the system's time zone settings. Any untethered phone that attempts to patch their system will effectively prevent evasi0n from working at all, re-jailing the phone again. This patch also ends the updates and support for the month-old untethering software that finally freed the iPhone 5 from carriers. Any new or updated phones natively running the newest version of the OS will not be able to access any of evasi0n's capabilities.

Right now, evasi0n remains one of the most popular jailbreaking softwares, gathering a hefty 7 million downloads in the first four days of being online. It has taken Apple three weeks to respond to the jailbreak on the developer end, but it's more likely that the patch will hit consumers sometime within the next month. The patch will also fix the lockscreen bug on the iPhone that allows anyone to gain access via brute force to locked phones.

EMT Yeah why would you upgrade when you have a jail broken device

well if people didn't want to have the jailbreak, they could update if they wanted and unjailbreak.

Oh yeah I forgot about that

yeah or they could just restore their iPhone/iPod, which is what i did.

Upgrading would be easier though. Bad thing is there might nt be a jailbreak for the iOS you upgraded too

Yeah.....

Yeah one of the downsides to it

I remember it ruined my 1st Gen iPod, when i first had it a long time ago. gave me a white screen and i just threw it and never found it again. but those were in the good days of jailbreaking when installous was around.

I ruined my iPod 4th gen, battery life is ruined and it's laggy.

Mine too. The battery life is around 3 hours now. Horrible.

mine was about the same, it sucks. it's not worth killing your battery and once you've unjailbroken it's the same.

I know, I pretty much just wasted my iPod. I don't even have it jailbroken anymore because of how slow it got.

yeah man, and all we had to do was just update to the next available software or restore it but we continued on with the jailbreak.
