As any Blinx the Cat fan knows, Xbox is sitting on a ton of beloved series and games that are begging to be brought back for a new generation, something that's even more true following its purchase of Activision Blizzard. There's one series that stands out from the rest as the one that people want to see most, though - Banjo-Kazooie.
Not counting their appearance as playable fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or their classic adventures being remastered for Rare Replay, we haven't got a new game from the bear-and-bird duo since 2008's divisive Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts. That seemingly isn't going to be the case for long, however, as gaming insider NateDrake (also known as Nate The Hate) has been claiming for a while now that a new game is currently in the works.

Just a few months ago, NateDrake claimed that the unannounced Banjo game is an "active project" at Xbox after it was greenlit all the way back in 2022. Anyone hoping that the new Banjo might get revealed soon might want to keep their expectations in check, though, as NateDrake has provided an update on the rumoured game that indicates it's still got a lot of work left.
As pointed out by Twitter user HazzadorGamin, NateDrake was recently asked about the Banjo-Kazooie reboot on ResetEra. In response to the question, NateDrake said that the most recent thing he heard about it is that it's being "reworked from its original scope and vision", noting that it's going to be a while before we hear from it and that he might have spoken up on it too soon.
Although that might seem like bad news for anyone who has been waiting to hunt around for Jiggies, it seems that the changes being made are positive ones. When asked if the project being further away is a good or bad thing, NateDrake said that it sounded like it was "for the better". We'll probably have to wait a while to see if that ends up being true, but it does at least sound like it's still actively being worked on at Xbox.
