Guerrilla Games is reportedly cutting 10% of its workforce as part of wider layoffs announced on Tuesday by parent company Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The Amsterdam, Netherlands-based studio plans to lay off about 40 of its over 400 employees, sources told Dutch newspaper AD.

Guerrilla, which was acquired by Sony in 2005, is best known for the Horizon and Killzone series.

Its most recent game, Horizon Forbidden West, was released for PS4 and PS5 in February 2022, and had sold 8.4 million copies by April 2023. It will be released for PC next month.

Guerrilla has been working on an online project set in the Horizon universe and has also promised more “epic solo adventures” starring series protagonist Aloy.

PlayStation said today that it plans to lay off 900 employees worldwide, or about 8% or its workforce.

The move will include staff cuts at Spider-Man studio Insomniac and Last of Us developer Naughty Dog in the US.

PlayStation’s London Studio is being shut down, while fellow UK developer Firesprite has also been hit with layoffs.

Commenting on today’s restructuring, PlayStation Studios head and former Guerrilla managing director Hermen Hulst said the company is “reevaluating how we operate”, and that the layoffs have resulted in the cancellation of unnamed game projects.

Sony has reportedly cancelled a Twisted Metal live service game previously in development at Firesprite as part of the restructuring plans.

such a shame, but if the studios don't need a certain amount of staff anymore, then it's understandable

I was in the same situation about 6 months ago. the office I was working for were cutting staff,
and they had the "last one in, first one out" policy, even though your attendance could have
been better than half of the workers

but I got a new and better job before they got the chance to tell me I was getting booted :D
