iPhone 5S may include fingerprint sensor and NFC

Its appears that Apple may be adding NFC and fingerprint technology into the iPhone 5S with a report suggesting that the company will use the fingerprint sensor to improve the security of NFC features such as payment handling.

China Times has reported that Chipbond,a chinese chipmaker , was selected by Apple to manufacture these components for use in the iPhone 5S.

Foxconn has also seemingly started production on the iPhone 5S and are preparing to really step up manufacturing, according to Macotakara, which has previously provided accurate details in that past. Macotakara also reports that leading Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo may finally begin selling the iPhone with the release of the 5S.

i have the iphone 5 already and will be getting the iphone 5s regardless of what functions it has but i hope this fingerprint thing is optional.. i work in construction and get cuts on my fingers which ultimately f**ks up my fingerprint :/

Me too, each new phone that they release is skinner and has I new improvement, that's about it.

Exactly the reason im getting the Galaxy S4.


I think the S4 will sell a lot more than the 5S. Although apple does have a lot of people who won't ever buy a phone which isn't made by apple.


I agree, apple is just making the same product and changing little things.
Well that's Apple for you. Lots of people will buy products made by Apple mainly because most people love their products, although it's roughly just the same with little features added to the next phone.


Maybe they need a big change like this to attract more buyers.


I don't think this is a big change. They should have put the NFC chip in the iPhone 5 and the fingerprint scanner is pointless. They need to come up with new features. Like the eye tracking camera that Samsung are putting in the S4.

Eye tracking camera? Such an innovative new feature.... S4 would have to shoot RPGs or something extreme for me to ever consider it, i cant stand it if im honest, seems really over hyped all the time. I dont think Samsung will take over, not as it is atm anyway.

I think samsung is taking over in the smartphone industry, They're tending to build alot better stuff now
