As spotted by Xbox News for Koreans, the dev kit was today approved for use by South Korea’s National Radio Research Agency.
Manufactured in China and Vietnam, it carries the model number 2089. The Xbox Series X dev kit, which has the model number 1881, was certified by the agency five months before the console launched in November 2020.
Legal documents leaked last September potentially laid bare key elements of Microsoft’s gaming strategy for years to come, including plans to launch an ”adorably all digital” Xbox Series X console codenamed ‘Brooklin’.
While its plans may have changed, according to the documents, the console was targeting a November 2024 launch and a $499 price point.
During a business update in January, Xbox confirmed that Xbox Series X/S won’t be the company’s last consoles.
“There’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday, and we’re also invested in the next generation roadmap,” said Xbox president Sarah Bond.
“And what we’re really focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation”.
