Next gen Xbox will have Blu-Ray!

4.2
Earlier today, a Microsoft Durango Development Kit popped up on the internet. Included with the leak were 5 images of the "Microsoft Durango XDK Documentation Setup" which shed light on previously unknown parts of the console's hardware and functionality.

What we find to be the most significant aspect of the leaked documentation can be seen in the image below. It says: "Durango consoles will have a Blu-Ray Disc drive. Disc media will be used for distribution, but during gameplay, games will not use content from the optical disc." What do you think of this?

DJ-P0N-3 I have yet to watch a blue ray movie. Is there ANY real difference?

You can see a lot more detail and the sound quality is much better. You can't really tell unless you wearing a headset or have a good sound system though.

so it won't matter to most gamers

Nope not at all. Unless you like paying $40 for movies. Or if your like me and download or stream 'em. ;)

zredstarv2 Message to all 12 year old scrubcakes, you are all idiots for say Microsoft is trying to be like sony, sony will sue Microsoft for copying ps3, and xbox 360 was too late for blue ray. Microsoft is not trying to copy Sony by putting BR in the new Console, this is the new standard for EVERYTHING LOL!, Sony will not sue Xbox for putting blue ray in their xbox, while several hundred companies own the rights to blue ray disc. yes sony was the key contributor in the creation of blue ray. the have a lot more to lose such as tablets and PC that run windows, then trying to start a lawsuit. A Blue ray disc contain 25 GB per layer, which is ideal for games developers because more GB=more work space. Therefore Microsoft and Sony want to make the developers life easier LOL! When the Xbox 360 was realeased in 2005, how could they be late when the Blue Ray technology was not offically realeased until June, 2oo6? LOL. You noobs need to learn how to research before you type.

So why did it take this long for people to come to this realization?

Thats what I thought!

Really? They would sue them? That's hilarious! They would not sue them for trying to create a successful console that has " their " idea. Saying that they would sue then for that is like saying the first company who built touch screen phones would sue the rest because it was their idea.

Bes That will be awesome!

The blu ray doesn't really effect me, I'm just glad that ps3 fanboys will have to come up with a new reason why playstation is better.

Yes, I can talk to a PS3 player and all he has to say is "oh we get online for free and we get blue ray" But now they can't say that.
