FromSoft Has A "Strong Will" To Make Armored Core 7

Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki has "no intention" of abandoning the Armored Core series, suggesting that we will get a seventh game. This comes after the launch of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon last year, which was the first new instalment in ten years.

As reported by Fandom Wire, Miyazaki discussed the future of Armored Core with IGN Japan this week. Here, he said that the series is "very important" to FromSoftware and that there is a "strong will" to make another game after the success of Armored Core 6.

"The Armored Core series is very important to FromSoftware," says Miyazaki. "We have a strong will to continue it in the future."

He continues, shedding some light on how FromSoft views the performance of the last game. "I believe Armored Core 6 was a success," he says. "On the other hand, not everything was perfect, and there is still room for improvement. So, I have no intention of stopping there."

Of course, Miyazaki has been preoccupied with Elden Ring recently as the story DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is launching soon. Once this is out, that might free up some more time to turn back to the Armored Core series, perhaps meaning we'll have less of a wait between sequels this time.

[...] Not everything was perfect, and there is still room for improvement. So, I have no intention of stopping there

Yet that might be wishful thinking on our part. Shadow of the Erdtree is launching on June 21, more than two years since the launch of Elden Ring. With this in mind, FromSoft is certainly keeping its projects cooking for a while. The next Armored Core could be in for a lengthy development cycle too, although we at least now know that Miyazaki is interested in the series.

Miyazaki hasn't actually directed an Armored Core game since Armored Core: For Answer in 2008. But given what he's shared in this interview, it sounds like he's personally interested in changing that, so we might see him lead this hypothetical Armored Core 7 in the future. For now, we'll have to sit back and see what FromSoft has up its sleeve next now that Shadow of the Erdtree is almost done and dusted.
