The most obvious one is the stealth-focused protagonist Naoe whose gameplay looks closer to the originals, with movement as slick as Unity's, but then we have the leaked map which is much smaller than Odyssey and Valhalla's.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is set during the Azuchi-Momoyama period and will take place in nine different provinces of the Kansai region - Harima, Iga, Kii, Omi, Settsu, Tamha, Yamashiro, Yamato, and Wakasa.
There are huge swaths of ocean between provinces, and there don't look to be as many enormous empty fields, so fingers crossed that getting from A to B is a little less tedious this time.
Given that we're venturing to Kansai, that means the two most notable cities of the era will be Kyoto and Osaka. As one fan points out, we saw Fukuchiyama during yesterday's showcase which is west of Kyoto, so it shouldn't take us too long in-game to find these iconic locations.
It won't be long before we have Shadows in our hands and on our shelves, as it launches November 15 later this year.
Reports claimed that it would be the first part of the 'Infinity' platform, but we still don't know what that will actually look like. It's reportedly a hub that will be used to launch new Assassin's Creed experiences (the next being Hexe) but what ties them all together is unclear.
At any rate, Shadows launches in just five months, so you've got around half a year to catch up if you've still not finished Valhalla and Mirage.
